March 2025
The Global Digital Justice Forum (GDJF) congratulates the Presidents of Chile, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay for issuing a joint statement titled “Commitment to Democracy and Global Governance” on 26 February 2025. Through this statement, they have committed to “joint actions to address inequality, disinformation, and the malicious use of social networks and other digital technologies that fuel extremism and polarisation of our societies”.
The GDJF sent out letters to the Presidents outlining our appreciation for their initiative and wishing them success. We also shared with them our call to action, ‘‘Now is the time to take action for digital justice,‘ which is in line with the agenda highlighted in their statement. Signed by more than fifty civil society organizations from around the world, our demands echo the statement of the Presidents, urging precisely that kind of action from our governments.
